Fred Meyer Jewelers first began inside of Fred Meyer stores in 1973 and turned out to be an immediate success. Fred Meyer Jewelers quickly grew into a prominent fine jeweler in their own right. An expansion explosion began in 1995 when Fred Meyer Jewelers acquired 23 jewelry stores operating under a variety of names in California and Washington. Next followed another expansion, adding 49 more stores and acquiring a national presence with locations from California to Maryland and Washington to Wisconsin.

Then in 1997, growth struck again when 44 Fox's Jewelers in 6 Midwestern states were acquired. Most recently in October 1998, Fred Meyer Jewelers acquired Littman Jewelers, a prestigious East Coast chain with 123 stores.
