Jack’s, Alabama’s first fast-food restaurant chain, opened in 1960 in Homewood, Alabama as a walk-up hamburger stand. The original menu was simple, fifteen cent hamburgers and fries and twenty cent shakes. The legacy of Jack’s began. The menu was limited but people all over Birmingham discovered the delicious food served. Due to Jack’s popularity, restaurants opened throughout the Southeastern part of the country. Jack’s grand-openings were a big hit with parents and kids with special appearances from local celebrities. Children received 100% of Jack’s marketing.
