Sports Training Physical Therapy was founded in 1985 by Maureen Broderick Wilhelm, PT as a private practice physical therapy facility. Beginning with its first office in West Orange, NJ, Sports Training Physical Therapy grew from a single clinician to a facility treating more than 400 patients/week. From 1990 to 1997, STPT opened 9 additional clinics throughout New Jersey before being purchased by HealthSouth in July 1997.
