$10.00 for $20.00 - Irish-american Folk Rockers the Westies Album Release Party

Celebrate the release of The Westies' new album with a party at City Winery Chicago. The Westi.. read morees are a new Chicago band, a male-female duo composed of folk rocker Michael McDermott and Heather Horton. The Westies' new album, West Side Stories , is a song cycle inspired by the real life Westies, a ruthless gang of Irish mobsters that ruled Hell's Kitchen in the '60s and '70s. The album uses the gangsters as a metaphor for the dark side that lurks inside us all, the forces that lead us to struggle with ourselves, destroy relationships and leave us clinging to love as just a memory.

$10.00 for $20.00 - "jewmongous: Unkosher Comedy Song Concert": Rockapella's Sean Altman

Best known as a founding member of the trailblazing vocal group Rockapella, Sean Altman return.. read mores to give Jewish people something to do on Christmas with his unkosher comedy song concert, Jewmongous. With a songbook of witty, delightfully un-p. c. takes on all things Judaism, Altman has toured the world, twice performed at the White House Chanukah Party, and has shared the stage with everyone from Billy Joel to Jon Stewart and Joey Ramone. His Passover favorite, "They Tried To Kill Us (We Survived, Let's Eat)," has been featured on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross. Described as "part of a new breed of Jewish hipster comedy" ( Philadelphia Daily News ), Altman plays acoustic rock songs for the not-too-easily-offended. With songs like the carol parody "Reuben the Hook-Nosed Reindeer" and the toe-tapping tarantella "Blame the Jews," Jewmongous might not be kosher, but it is hilarious. Also joining in the fun is Jewish a cappella heroes Listen Up and acclaimed NYC comedic author and songstress Cynthia Kaplan.

I hate the way they kick people out for no reason. I've seen it happen a few times. Kinda afraid to laugh and enjoy due to fear of humiliation by bully bouncers. Don't speak with the people next to you, (or should I say sitting on top of you because the seating is so squished) you'll get kicked o....

City Winery has a great space. It's huge and loft style in decor. However, this review is solely on wine as we didn't have food. The wine options were nice, along with the waitstaff. It was nice place to grab a table, chat with friends, and drink wine. However, I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 ....
