Scout note: if you're the kind of person who thinks eating should do more than nourish you, f.. read morearrah olivia, a kind of pop-up restaurant located inside its sister establishment kora near the crystal city metro, is the place for you. of course, considering how dang good it is, it just might be the place for everyone. that's thanks to farrah olivia's owner (and dadmit's named after one of his daughters) chef morou ouattara. born and raised in the ivory coast, chef morou gets his cooking gene from his mother, as well as quite a bit of his inspiration for the dishes he creates at farrah olivia. her cooking gave him his palate, which he says influences everything he makes. "i don't have the typical american palate, since i grew up in africa," he said. "this influences everything i make, from italian to southwestern cuisine. it keeps it interesting." think of it as extreme fusion. two dishes not to be missed are the super white tuna appetizer, which is so intricate and exotic it took chef morou several minutes to explain it to me, and the lamb chop. far from typical, it incorporates african spices and is served with plantain loaf. menu highlights: super white tuna, $12 black-eyed pea fritters, $9 lemongrass cured duck breast, $28 lamb chop, $32 hangar steak tartare, $12 hours: wednesday - saturday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
