Cello legend paul katz shares the stage with the ascendant ariel quartet for this one-off enga.. read moregement at jcc of greater washington. formed in israel, the ariel quartet came to the u.s. in 2004 to further its studies as the resident ensemble in the new england conservatory's prestigious professional string quartet training program. there, the group trained under former cleveland quartet cellist katz, who founded the program. the ariel quartet has gone on to tour nationally and internationally, win competitions and receive grants from the likes of the america-israel cultural foundation. for this program, they'll perform string quartets by beethoven and janacek, as well as schubert's celebrated cello quintet.
