Maverik founder Reuel Call opened his first store in 1928 in Afton, Wyoming at the age of 20. The convenience chain was named â€śMaverickâ€ť after the popular television show starring James Garner in the 60â€™s.
Since then, Maverik has expanded across seven states in the western U.S. and employs over 3,000 people. Recently the company surpassed $1 billion in revenue, though they are not stopping there. â€śWe have an aggressive growth plan to reach 300 stores and $3 billion in revenue in the next few years,â€ť Call said.
Family owned, Maverik is run by the third generation of the Call family. The company operates from a strong sense of community responsibility and shows community support by being a major sponsor of the Special Olympics.
