Scout notes: walking in to the peanut butter & co. sandwich shop makes you feel like you're h.. read moreaving the world's most delicious fever dream, where the standard pb&j has been upgraded beyond your wildest childhood fantasies. here, america's old lunchtime standby is put on such a pedestal that it can do no wrong, no matter how inventive the combination gets; you'll find it successfully paired with everything from bacon and banana (the elvis) to dill pickles (the pregnant lady). along the way, you'll find pineapple jam and nutella, marshmallow fluff and vanilla cream cheese, all deployed in the service of making peanut butter sing in ways you never thought possible. of course, after the sandwich you can follow the peanut-laden path through to dessert: the fantastic pb&j shake is the stuff of elementary school legend. if only we'd grown up in greenwich village. i find it impossible not to smile when i read the peanut butter & co menu. try standing there in the adorable blue and white shop, at the counter lined with variations on the peanut butter cookie, and see if these words don't make you grin: ants on a log. fluffernutter. dark chocolate dreams (cherry jam! dark chocolate peanut butter!). if you somehow remain straight faced while your order, it won't last once you sit down with one of these insane delights. everything on offer will turn you directly into a giddy kid, no matter how serious of an adult you've become over the years. please note this a small restaurant which gets busy during peak hours, especially lunch time. there may be an increased wait for food and seating is limited. menu highlights: chocolate peanut butter pie, $4.50 pregnant lady, $6.25 cinnamon raisin swirl sandwich, $6.75 the heat is on sandwich, $7.25 the elvis, $7.50 hours: sunday thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. friday saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
