HISTORY
The zoo opened in 1889 whenbusinessman George V. Gress purchased a bankrupt traveling circus & donated the animals to Atlanta. In 1999 the zoo joined only 2 other zoos in housing giant pandas.

I had a great time taking my grandson Brantley, my mom and my son for Saturday fun day at the Zoo Atlanta. This was a pretty good zoo. My favorite part was the orangutan area. I like that they break it up by regions. It was well maintained, and it was pretty easy to find parking on the street.

It stinks and smells. There's no talk of conservation. The poor animals look so sad and depressed. I've been to many Zoos where animals are happier and active. It would be fantastic if the employees didn't take up the majority of the parking spaces in the main parking lot. Maybe they should park....
