HISTORY
The zoo opened in 1889 whenbusinessman George V. Gress purchased a bankrupt traveling circus & donated the animals to Atlanta. In 1999 the zoo joined only 2 other zoos in housing giant pandas.

Fall is a great time to visit the zoo - the animals love the cooler days and are frisky.

We have a membership, we take our 9 month old regularly. We enjoy going and walking around an checking out the animals. The food is a little pricey. The free parking is a great deal! The bathrooms aren't always that clean, its pretty gross.
