Our roots run deep in Latin America, where the first Campero restaurant opened in 1971. It was, and still is, a family business β started by the Gutierrez family with one desire β to serve the best tasting chicken possible. To this day, Juan Jose Gutierrez, our CEO, remains personally involved in ensuring our chicken is always fresh and flavorful, through and through.
An instant favorite among locals, word of this intensely flavorful chicken spread. Latin Americans would even bring their prized Campero chicken with them when they traveled to the US, because nothing compared to the flavor of Campero. In 2002, when we opened our first US Campero location in Los Angeles, there were lines of people around the store, delighted to welcome their very own Campero restaurant. Today there are more than 50 locations across the United States and more than 300 Pollo Campero restaurants serving our original recipes in countries and continents far from our native home.
