They were familiar with traditional, home style food and wanted to share their family's most favorite recipes. They understood mashed potatoes taste best with skins left on. That pot roast doesn't get fork tender unless slow-simmered. And most importantly, that at the at the end of the day, it's hard to beat a home cooked meal, made from scratch.
