About
History of Elmer’s – A Family Experience The first Elmer’s Restaurant opened its doors in 1960. Located at N.E. 82nd Avenue in Portland, Oregon, this restaurant was the dream of Walt Elmer, a successful restaurant operator. Elmer ran the restaurant with the help up his family and a dedicated staff. Hard work, loyalty and high standards brought success to Elmer’s quickly. In 1962 the next location was opened, and today there are 27 Elmer’s restaurants in the Northwest. In December 2000, Elmer’s acquired five Mitzels’ American Kitchen restaurants in the Puget Sounds region of Washington state. With this acquisition, the company has solidified its place in the family dining market. Make Yourself Comfortable At Elmer’s we want you to experience genuine hospitality through our welcoming, caring and cheerful service. We’ll make sure our restaurant feels warm, cozy and comfortable. We source fresh, local ingredients to prepare the variety of familiar dishes you love. Elmer’s Northwest Fresh Menu As a local company, we celebrate the great Pacific Northwest by using locally fresh ingredients whenever possible. We celebrate each season with a new menu featuring dishes that emphasize what’s abundant and spectacular from our great Northwest. In the Spring, you’ll find asparagus on your plate, or an explosion of marionberries; come Summer, the juicy watermelon and fresh blueberries will be calling your name; Winter brings us incredible seafood; Fall offers Walla Walla onions, sweet potatoes, and an abundance of Hazelnuts, just to name a few seasonal items right from our own backyard. We don’t just wait for the seasons to bring us local flavor. Even in the variety of dishes found on our core menu, you’ll see Northwest Fresh elements in every category. Our burgers are made with ½ pound fresh Northwest beef patties; we offer choice prime rib and all-natural Flat Iron steaks, Dungeness crabmeat, Oregon hazelnuts, Washington State apples, Marionberries, Tillamook and Rogue Creamery cheeses. We feature the best of what's in season.
