We started out as a General Merchandise Store and grew into a Hardware and Lumber supply chain; today we are a Complete Home Supply Center with competitive prices, quality products and the best in customer service. We offer our customers the personal touch they have come to expect from us. In October of 1999 Rufus H Duncan, a great-grandson of one of the founders purchased the company. This purchase introduced 3 Stores to our family in East Texas (Pineland, Lufkin, Conroe). In August of 2002, we introduced another store into the family with a Big Tin Barn in Diboll. On October 31, 2002 we acquired Higginbotham-Bartlett Co which added 32 more stores to our company. Higginbotham Bros & Co. began in 1881 as a general mercantile store in the Texas town of Deleon. Established by brothers J.M. and R.W. Higginbotham, the company grew with the introduction of the Texas Central railroad. By 1911, Higginbotham-Bartlett Co. owned and operated 10 lumberyards across West Texas. By 1919, the company owned 16 Texas lumberyards and moved its headquarters to Dallas. The company again expanded in 1922 with the addition of 15 lumberyards, and was able to weather the Great Depression of the early 1930s, retaining its existing stores. By 1972 the company’s general offices were moved from Dallas to Lubbock. In March of 2006 we acquired our first ACE HARDWARE-Sam R Hill Lumber located in Tyler, Texas. Currenty in all Higginbotham Bros Co., LTD owns and operates a total of 45 stores throughout Texas. Higginbotham Bros & Co., LTD looks into 2007 as an opportunity for continuing to serve the hometown communities in which we serve in preserving the Higginbotham name. We now have 45 locations throughout West, Central, and East Texas which allows us to better serve our customers.
