The Hunt family came from a long history in the food business. Their father, Austin Hunt, owned a restaurant in Evansville, Indiana that was very successful. Don, Lonnie, Jim and Charlie each started washing dishes in the family restaurant, Austin's Drive Inn of Evansville, Indiana and developed into managers. When their father died of a heart attack, Don was 22 and the youngest child was two years old. The brothers had to work together to run the restaurant and raise the children. They put in a state-of-the-art speaker system and were on the cutting edge of a drive-in restaurant.
