In the summer of 1990, Gordy and Glenn Gronkowski opened the doors of Buffalo, NY's first specialty fitness dealership: G & G Fitness Equipment, Inc. The idea was born when Gordy, a former Syracuse University football standout, went looking for high quality fitness equipment for his home. His search took him all the way to Pittsburgh, PA before he found a store that carried the kind of equipment he had in mind. After discussing the concept with the owner of the store, he began to realize that Buffalo was a prime, untapped market for a specialty fitness store. Using his business expertise gained as Vice President of Superior Lubricants, Gordy teamed with his brother and began selling fitness equipment as a side job out of a 3000 sq. ft. store in Williamsville, NY. After about three months, Glenn decided that his primary job was too demanding to continue with the fitness store and sold his half to Gordy. For the next seven years, Gordy managed to grow G&G Fitness into one of the most successful fitness retailers in the nation, all while still working at Superior Lubricants and heading up a household that consists of his wife, Diane, and five boys: Gordy, Dan, Chris, Robby, and Glenn. In 1997, Gordy retired from Superior to commit to growing G & G Fitness. In 2000 G&G Fitness expanded to Pittsburgh, PA. Four years later G & G Fitness expanded once again to North East Ohio including Cleveland and Akron. In 2006 G&G Fitness continued its expansion by purchasing the highly respected five- store chain in southern Ohio called "The Fitness Store." This latest expansion leaves G&G Fitness and its sister company, The Fitness Store, as a seventeen- store chain with over 80 employees, making us the largest and most experienced fitness equipment dealer in every market we serve including Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati.
