About
Papa Gino's began in 1961 as a single East Boston pizza shop. When the family of Papa Gino's founder, Michael Valerio, sailed from Italy to Boston in 1936, they brought with them authentic Italian family recipes handed down through generations. These were the recipes Michael and his wife, Helen, used when they opened their first pizzeria, Piece O' Pizza. This restaurant soon became known throughout Boston as the place to go for pizza of superior quality and unique flavor. Continuing to perfect their business systems, they drew more and more guests to their restaurant by providing a family atmosphere and authentic Italian dishes. In 1968, they changed the name to Papa Gino's and began expanding throughout the Boston area. Today, you can get Papa's signature quality and unique flavor at nearly 170 Papa Gino's Restaurants throughout New England. But you can get more than a "Piece O' Pizza" at today's Papa Gino's. We now offer a full line of subs, salads, and other Italian specialties to complement our classic pizza. Papa Gino's Holdings Corporation, Inc. is committed to building upon the legacy of the founders' principles and values to provide high-quality products, attentive service, clean, convenient, attractive restaurants, and a premium value experience for every guest. Guest loyalty closely parallels the company's employee loyalty. "Our guests tell us in taste test after taste test that our products and services are the best," says Chief Executive Officer, Tom Galligan. "That's why so many guests have become like family, returning again and again. In addition, our employees become part of our family." The company culture, which is characterized by our values, a strong work ethic and the fair treatment of people, includes a large number of people who have literally spent their entire working lives in these restaurants, keeping the passion for excellence alive.
