In the beginning… there was one Rainbow Academy. It all began in 1997 in Iselin, New Jersey where Guy and Julia Falzarano and three of their grown sons established the very first center. Guy designed this first center in response to his discovery that the needs of working parents were simply not being met by the child care industry. The focus had been solely on the child, but what about the family? He recognized the need to give parents peace of mind, and found many ways to accomplish that, from creating a home-away-from-home atmosphere to extending hours at the end of the day to installing ParentView, which allowed parents to see their children during the workday. The Iselin center still has the same cozy atmosphere it’s had since day one, and today, 155 children call it their home-away-from-home. Now there are eight Rainbow Academy’s in New Jersey, employing over 290 people. They have sprouted wherever working parents need help and support in caring for and educating their children in a safe, secure environment. We’ve thrived because of parents like you who seek an alternative to the cookie-cutter approach that the big franchises offer. Rainbow Academy now has locations in Brick, Cranford, North Brunswick, Rutherford, Summit, Whippany and Woodbridge serving over 1,500 children statewide. And look for new Rainbow Academy’s being opened in 2008. Guy, Julia and their family continue to take great pride in their family of centers, and six members of Guy’s family are currently working with the the company. Two grandchildren are even enrolled – a “Green Frog” student and a “Purple Cat.” The Falzarano's see family as so much more than something you’re born into. They see it as a blessing to be protected and nurtured. With hundreds of extended “family” members - parents, children and employees -Guy credits their success to the way the core values of his own family have been incorporated into the creation of every new center. Like the children nurtured within, Rainbow Academy continues to grow, garnering achievements and successes along the way. In 2006 and 2007, we were awarded semi-finalist in the NJ Family Business of the Year competition.* The award recognizes the significant role that family businesses play in the nation’s economy, as well as their vital contribution to the state and local business community. In October of 2007, we celebrate our tenth anniversary with a tremendous sense of satisfaction as well as gratitude toward the communities and families who have embraced our ideals.
