About
On May 1, 2007 Republic Beverage Company and National Distributing Company combined their businesses in seventeen states and the District of Columbia to form Republic National Distributing Company. RNDC is an organization built on the strong foundations of two long-term, well-established family owned companies. Republic Beverage Company was founded in 1996 as a result of a merger of the Block and Dreeben families and the Goldring family. The Block family began doing business in Texas in 1939 under the leadership of Ed Block. Newman Goldring founded the N. Goldring Corporation in Florida in 1898. Later, Stephen Goldring expanded the N. Goldring base in Florida by opening Magnolia Marketing Company in Louisiana. National Distributing Company (NDC) began in 1942 when Chris Carlos welcomed Al Davis as an equal partner in the Dixie Wine Company, a business Carlos had founded in 1935 in Atlanta, GA. That partnership blossomed into NDC, one of the largest wine and spirit wholesalers in the United States. Today, RNDC is the second largest distributor of premium wine and spirits in the U.S., with wholly-owned operations in Arizona, Alabama, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. RNDC is also partners in joint-ventures in Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma and South Carolina. In total, RNDC employs more than 6,000 individuals nationwide. A board of directors, consisting of Eddie Block, Chris Carlos, John Carlos, Jay Davis, Alan Dreeben, Diane Goldring Franco, Jeff Goldring, and Jerry Rosenberg, oversees RNDC. Directly reporting to the board of directors, the operating committee works to provide the company with the diversity and flexibility to manage the changing needs of its customers and suppliers. The operating committee is comprised of Tom Cole, President; Greg Johnson, Chief Administrative Officer; Paul Fine, Chief Financial Officer; Charlie Andrews, President of the Eastern and Control States; and Bob Hendrickson, President of the Western States.
