Our family has two memorable BBQ events! I couldn't pick just one to share, because both meant so much to our family. The first memorable BBQ occurred during the summer of 2007. My son Jason, still a little uncertain of the direction he wanted to go in life, was preparing to leave for Air Force Basic Training. We had a Patriotic themed BBQ while family and friends reminisced about Jason as he was growing up. As a child Jason had a vivid imagination and would often go into the woods behind our house on "adventures" with his backpack full of snacks and his plastic sword. We all laughed at his imaginative excursions throughout the BBQ and today we are very proud that he has found his "direction" as an Air Force Police Officer. The second BBQ was a few months later at Christmas. We live in North Carolina, so we grill out all year long. Jason came home from Basic Training and was married on December 22nd. Our family tradition is to have an elaborate meal on Christmas Day and last year was no exception! Jason and his new wife took a short honeymoon just to be home for Christmas dinner. We had steaks and shrimp on the grill, crab legs, and side dishes, with pecan pie and cheesecake for dessert. Jason is currently in Iraq, and won't be home for Christmas this year, so that makes our last BBQ even more special. <img src="http://www.shanesribshack.com/images/img1_sm.jpg">
