First of all, welcome to Fire Fly Euro Boxers! We started our plight here at our farm several years back in a relentless pursuit for boxers with impeccable lineage, and exceptional health. After many months of research about the breed and health problems associated with the Boxer breed, we were guided to the European breed. The Boxer breed originated in the early 19th century in Germany, being a young breed, the boxer dog does have it's health problems. Having dealt with one of the many health problems first hand, with Bella, our beloved first Boxer, sent us on the pursuit of a healthy old world breed. European Boxer dogs have subtle differences in build and behavior.
? European Boxers have heavier bone structure, larger size, impeccable head piece, and a wonderful disposition. That being said, like all breeds of dogs they are susceptible to human error, meaning, poor breeding practice, lack of health testing, interbreeding, as well as over breeding, in some instances certain dogs should not be bred. The American breed is a great dog, our former pet Bella was an American Boxer, we found it difficult to locate a long linage of health tested champions our Boxers would be born from.
? One of the most important traits for Fire Fly Boxers we were in search of was a long healthy life for our dogs. Our search for our dogs started because we lost our beloved Bella at 3 years old to cardiomyopathy, a common problem in poorly breed boxers. Our search lead us to purchase our females and stud dog from a reputable breeder that imported their parents from Finland, Croatia, Germany, and Hungary.
