About
Glenwood Oaks Restaurant, as you see it today, evolved from a long history that began over 80 years ago. Originally opened by William and Hilda D. Amico in 1925, it was first known as Glenwood Gardens. It was rechristened Gasper's Spa in 1937 when Gasper Turlo purchased the restaurant. The restaurant changed hands again in 1954 with the new owners, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, who renamed it Poor Richards. Poor Richards received a distinguished reputation under the Ryan's by offering a sumptuous buffet that delighted diners from near and far.

The present owner, Terry Jarosky, along with his brother, the late John R. Jarosky, also the former owners of Isabelle's of Thornton, acquired the restaurant in 1974. After extensive remodeling, Glenwood Oaks opened its doors on June 25th of that year to become a public luncheon, dining, and banquet facility in the south suburban area. In 1984 the restaurant was remodeled again to its present look by Homer Trimelius and Associates who have designed over 150 restaurants in the Chicagoland area.

We, the Jarosky's vow to offer you good service, good food, a nice atmosphere, all at a fair price.

All of our employees are hired on the basis of personally first, trained and encouraged to treat you as a guest that was invited into our homes.
