About
BurritoVille was a New York City-based food chain serving Tex-Mex cuisine established in 1992. There were 16 locations in Manhattan, one in Westbury, New York on Long Island, and one in Hoboken, NJ. The menu items consisted mostly of various types of burritos and tacos, as well as salads and nachos. Many of the items were vegetarian-friendly. Each restaurant delivered to nearby homes and offices, while patrons eating in the restaurants were treated to free chips and salsa. One had to order at the counter and then claim a table.
BurritoVille was also popular for its free chips and salsa, available to patrons while they waited for their orders to be prepared.
Menu items included:
* Bob Marley's Last Burrito, a jerk-chicken burrito
* Lost in Austin, a spinach and black bean burrito
* The TLT Wrap, a salad burrito with lettuce, pico de gallo, tofu bacon and dressing (it had been removed from the menu but was still available for the asking)
The population of "BurritoVille" was fixed at 208 people, while the elevation remained 100 feet above sea level. Their slogan was, "We're Mexcellent!"
Interior decor consisted of antique maps of Mexico and classic sensational horror and romance Mexican cinema posters.
