About
In 1986 when George Pulice, President of Elliotts'
Off Broadway® Deli, Inc., converted a bowling
alley coffee shop in Downers Grove, Illinois into
a popular deli restaurant, the first Elliotts’ Off
Broadway® Deli was born. The New York deli theme
restaurant became a hit, particularly with the
fast-paced lunch crowd who quickly discovered
Elliotts' array of fresh prepared sandwiches,
daily specials, hearty soups, bagels, desserts,
and other goodies—all this and fast service too!
The decor was equally enticing with colorful
tiffany lamps, Casablanca fans, and old-time movie
posters. Even the black and white checkerboard
tile floors and sparkling deli counters said
“Welcome to the Big Apple’s theater district!” It
wasn’t long before the dream of owning and running
a deli-style restaurant was made available to
others through franchise sales.
The first franchised Elliotts' opened in a large
office building in Oakbrook Terrace. As several
more Elliotts’ began appearing around Chicagoland
the word spread that Elliotts’ was a great place
to eat. And as they say-- the rest is history!
