About
Festival Foods, a family-owned company operating stores strategically throughout Wisconsin, was founded as Skogen’s IGA by Paul and Jane Skogen in 1946 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. With only five hundred dollars of borrowed money and a lot of enthusiasm, Paul and Jane began the company which now operates 13 full-service, state-of-the art, supermarkets in eight growing communities and employs over 3,200 full and part-time associates. Festival Foods is well-known for its philosophy of “The Boomerang Theory”; every business decision we make is based and the question, “What can we do to bring our customers back?” Festival Foods: Past to Present From 1946 to 1974, the Skogen family acquired a number of small IGA stores, and eventually in 1979, a Red Owl store in Holmen , Wisconsin . In 1976, Paul Skogen passed away. His son, Dave and his wife, Barb, along with son, Mark, and daughter, Sue, are now the sole owners. To this day, the entire Skogen family including: Dave, Barb, Mark and Sue, are very active in the company's day-to-day operations and can be seen cutting meat, stocking shelves, bagging groceries or even cashiering. This hands-on approach which started with Paul and Jane Skogen has guided our company to where it is today. In 1990, the Skogen family realized a shifting trend in consumer buying habits and decided to try a brand-new store format. This new format was something different than what they had traditionally offered in the past, but on June 28, 1990 , they opened our first Festival Foods location in Onalaska , Wisconsin . Since 1990, Festival Foods has experienced unprecedented growth by opening additional stores in Marshfield , Green Bay - West, Green Bay - East, De Pere, Oshkosh , Eau Claire , Holmen, La Crosse , ap<x>pleton East - Darboy, ap<x>pleton West - Northland, Fond du Lac , and most recently, in Manitowoc , Wisconsin .
