Jack’s, Alabama’s first fast-food restaurant chain, opened in 1960 in Homewood, Alabama as a walk-up hamburger stand. The original menu was simple, fifteen cent hamburgers and fries and twenty cent shakes. The legacy of Jack’s began. Jack’s sponsored Cousin Cliff, Bozo the Clown and Sergeant Jack, who was named after the hamburger chain. Many Birmingham residents remember growing up with Cousin Cliff, enjoying hamburgers and singing the original Jack’s jingle on the Cousin Cliff Show. The jingle was composed by Henry Kimbrell and produced by Ed Boutwell
