About
The Lucky name represents a legacy of value and service to Bay Area shoppers and to all those who worked there. In fact, our research told us that people still miss the Lucky brand and everything it stood for. We are excited to bring it back. Similar to what Lucky was known for in years past, today's Lucky stores will provide Bay Area shoppers with a broad selection of fresh, high quality products at the lowest prices offered by a full service supermarket. We will bring back many popular legacy programs including "Three's a Crowd," "Max Pak," and "Key Value" to complement Save Mart's own brands of Sunny Select, Sunnyside Farms, Master Cut, Master Catch, and Foxbrook and Piccinini Wines. The Lucky story began with Charles Crouch, the original owner of Lucky stores, who purchased the chain in 1931 and became known as an innovator in grocery retail. His idea to provide a great selection of fresh products under one roof proved to be a winner and he began calling the stores his "lucky stores." We are confident these will be able to carry on Charles Crouch's legacy. There are 72 Albertsons stores targeted for conversion to the Lucky banner; they are located throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties. The first stores to open under the new banner will be on July 25 and the last stores will be done at the end of September 2007. Save Mart is proud to Welcome Back The Lucky tradtions to the greater bay area. Save Mart has a 56 year history of bringing the best quality, freshest produce and service to the Central Valley of California.
