About
Stewart's Restaurants
Since 1924
In 1924, teacher Frank Stewart was looking for a way to
supplement his income during the summer months.
So he looked around to see what type of establishment would
work the best in his location. He decided on a west coast style
Drive-In stand--- a fast-food drive-in establishment that
served root beer and popcorn.
His original concept was simple. The drive-in would feature
Stewart's Root Beer in a cold mug and also sell salted popcorn.
Stewart figured that selling popcorn with just the right amount
of salt would increase his Stewart's Root Beer sales. He was
right.
However, to differentiate from the other Root Beers at the time,
Frank gathered resources and hit the drawing board. By
working extensively with Flavor scientists, researchers and
others in the industry, Frank and chemist, J. Hungerford Co.
developed Stewarts Root Beer. Stewart's Root beer became very
popular because of its unique blend of roots, herbs and spices,
creating the smoothest blend of Root Beer around! Today,
Stewarts Root Beer and Restaurant Drive-In's are a world leader
in retro fit businesses and Root Beer distribution.
